DEATH FROM ABOVE 1979 SPLIT
Canadian cult rockers DEATH FROM ABOVE 1979 have split. In a new posting on the group's website, bass player JESSE KEELER admits the break-up news has been a long time coming - the group decided to call it quits in 2005. He writes, "I'm sure by now most of you assume the band isn't happening anymore since there are no shows, no work on a new album. "I wanted to let you know that your assumptions are correct. We decided to stop doing the band... almost a year ago." Keeler, who formed the group with SEBASTIEN GRAINGER (corr) admits the pals have become estranged from each other and no longer have much in common. He adds, "(We've) grown apart to such an extent that the only real time we spoke was just before we would play and during interviews." He ends his posting on an upbeat note, stating, "We did way more than I ever expected and I like to think the fans enjoyed it as much as we did." The duo tasted underground success with its 2004 debut YOU'RE A WOMAN, I'M A MACHINE.
