DEATH CLAIMS ANOTHER BUENA VISTA SOCIAL CLUBBER

BUENA VISTA SOCIAL CLUB star FAUSTINO ORAMAS has lost his battle with liver cancer in Cuba. He was 95. The singer's death was announced on Cuban state radio yesterday (27MAR07). Oramas, aka El Guayabero, was one of the last remaining members of the group of aged Cuban musicians, dubbed the Buena Vista Social Club. Guitarist COMPAY SEGUNDO and pianist RUBEN GONZALEZ died in 2003, IBRAHIM FERRER passed away in 2005 and singer/composer PIO LEYVA lost her life last year (06). Oramas composed the track CANDELA for the soundtrack to the hit 1997 Buena Vista Social Club documentary.
