DE ROSSI WARNS SKINNY STARLETS ABOUT ANOREXIA

PORTIA DE ROSSI is pleading with skinny Hollywood actresses not to become dangerously thin like she did, because it nearly killed her. The former ALLY MCBEAL star has written an article in the latest edition of American publication People to coincide with the cover story on the extreme pressure to be thin in Hollywood. She writes, "This is a good opportunity for me to say, 'Do as I say, not as I do,' because I have firsthand experience with being caught up in the whole Hollywood body thing. "I would eat 300 calories a day - a lot of Jell-O and no-sugar everything, of course. "I was doing Pilates, weight-training, circuit training; over lunch I would run on a treadmill in my dressing room with a fan on my face so I wouldn't sweat my makeup off." The star realised that something was drastically wrong when she stepped on the scale and discovered she weighed a mere 82 pounds (37 kilograms). De Rossi flew back to her native Australia for a holiday and her family was shocked by her skeletal frame. She says, "I went back home to Australia, and my brother and mother said, 'You're doing to die.' It really woke me up; I had to do something, or I would lose everything. "Now I never ever put restrictions on food. I don't really regret much in life, but I will never get the time back I spent worrying what the scale said."
