DORIS DAY - DAY HAS LOST HER BEAUTIFUL VOICE

NEWS BY ARTIST ALPHABETICALLY

DAY HAS LOST HER BEAUTIFUL VOICE

Beloved U.S. singer and movie icon DORIS DAY has lost her singing voice - and fears she'll never get it back.
The Pillow Talk star, 85, blames the damp conditions in her decaying Carmel, California home for destroying her once beautiful voice, which helped her score a number of hits in the 1950s and 1960s.
The reclusive star called into a U.S. radio show during a birthday celebration of her career earlier this month (Apr09) to talk about her croaky voice, explaining, "I wish I could sing. I'm still hoarse. I've been hoarse for a year. I went to my throat specialist and he said I was clear, but I can't sing because of the hoarseness.
"It's the dampness in the area (Carmel)."
Day also told her hometown radio station, Miracle 63, that her once-busy schedule had robbed her of a lot of precious memories.
She explained she was so busy learning lines and song lyrics that she had no time to store away magic moments.
During the rare interview, the Winter Wonderland singer confessed she couldn't remember the surname of one-time duet partner John Denver and had no recollection of TV appearances she made with Bing Crosby and Alan Ladd.

This is bunk! I listened all day to Magic 63 when Doris called in twice for lengthy periods of time, with that beautiful sing song voice of hers! She may be 85 but she sounds like shes 40! So young sounding, and yes she even sang a few song lyrics off and on throught the call in. The Globe and contactmusic breaking news has got it wrong, misquoting and totally getting the facts incorrectly! She said she is RENNOVATING her home inside and out and that there was a small leak that ruined her fan mail correspondence in her office! How does thie !@$#(@$#@ misconstrue that she lost her voice due to moldy decaying condition of her home that is "falling apart around her". i laughed until it hurt... She may be a recluse, but who can blame her after erroneous gossip like rumors? She said in Parade magazine she's embarassed to go out, seeing the globe using altered pictures of her, and some not even her! This is not only laughable but implorable. She is 85, leave the poor lady alone! She is still active in animal rights, even blogging on CNN with a message during Animal Cruelty Prevention Month. Losing her memory? Heck NO!! Again, she was misquoted, said she had John Denver had appeared on her 1976 tv special, and she only remembered his REAL name John Dutchendorf, and forgot his STAGE name, stars usually go by their real names in private! 85, i can only wish my memory and voice is that good when im 50! LOL
