DAVIS INDUCTED INTO HOLLYWOOD'S ROCKWALK

Late jazz star MILES DAVIS was posthumously inducted into Hollywood's prestigious RockWalk yesterday (28SEP06) with a commemorative bronze bust. His statue was unveiled in front of a host of musicians and members of the Davis family, including his son, ERIN, and daughter, CHERYL, outside the Guitar Center on Sunset Boulevard, Los Angeles. The trumpeter is the only musician to be immortalised in such a way. Other music icons have made their mark on the RockWalk with handprints on the pavement. It was established in 1985 to honour people who have made a significant contribution to the history of music. Davis died in 1985, aged 60. This year (06) would have marked his 80th birthday.
