DAVIES EYES BORRELL COLLABORATION TO BOOST COMEBACK

THE KINKS frontman RAY DAVIES is desperate to update the band's appeal by collaborating with young RAZORLIGHT rocker JOHNNY BORRELL.
The Sixties rockers are taking steps towards recording new material now that Davies' brother and bandmate Dave is on the mend following a long battle with illness.
Davies revealed that the group was "three quarters of the way" towards their dream of reforming after setting down some new riffs in the studio.
He has high hopes for the reunion - and believes joining forces with Razorlight frontman Borrell and Irish rockers Snow Patrol would boost their chances of new found success.
He tells the BBC, "We've started a little bit of this and that. But it is too early to judge the quality. It depends if there's good music. We want good new music.
"I'd like to do it as a more collaborative thing than we used to do. I'd love to do something with Johnny (Borrell), but I'd like to find new bands. Unsigned even. I usually like the underdogs."
He adds, "We'll see how it works out - a mixture of Snow Patrol and Chuck Berry. It should be an interesting record."
