DAVID DUCHOVNY ENTERS REHAB FOR SEX ADDICTION

X-Files actor David Duchovny has entered into rehab for treatment for sex addiction, his publicist has confirmed.

Duchovny who currently plays a womaniser in the TV series Californication has been married since 1997 to actress Tea Leoni, with whom he has a nine-year-old daughter and a six-year-old son.

"I have voluntarily entered a facility for the treatment of sex addiction," the actor said in a statement released through his lawyer.

"I ask for respect and privacy for my wife and children as we deal with this situation as a family."

Duchovny, 48, sprang to fame as the UFO-chasing Agent Mulder in the 1990's TV show the X-Files.

This summer saw the release of the second spin-off feature film – I Want to Believe.
