DAVE MATTHEWS FIGHTS CARBON EMISSIONS

US rockers the DAVE MATTHEWS BAND have pumped money into a carbon dioxide emissions "offsetting" program in a bid to make up for the years they pumped out pollution while on tour. The band has bought offsetting credits from energy company NativeEnergy which will eliminate the equivalent pollution to 36 million average road miles - which the band and fans travelling to concerts are estimated to have produced over the last 15 years. Funds from the Dave Matthews Band's credit purchase will directly fuel the construction of renewable energy generators, whose electricity will displace energy that would otherwise come from polluting power stations, and thus reduce pollution on behalf of the band and fans. The band say in a statement released by NativeEnergy: "As artists we need to act now to slow global warming. Carbon offsets are one thing we can do to help and we felt working with NativeEnergy was a good place to start."
