DARK KNIGHT BREAKS FURTHER RECORDS

The Dark Knight has broken yet another box office record in North America.

The new batman film has passed the $300 million (£151 million) mark faster than any other film in history, reaching the milestone in just ten days after being released.

The previous record had been held by Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, which took 16 days.

Unsurprisingly, The Dark Knight remained at the number one in the US box office this weekend taking $75.6 million (£38.1 million).

Christian Bale's cape crusader beat off competition from Will Ferrell's new project Step Brothers and the long-awaited return of Mulder and Scully in The X-Files: I Want to Believe.

After only two weeks on general release, the batman film is already the second-biggest film of the year, only $15 million (£7.5 million) off the $315 ($159 million) taken by Ironman.
