DANIEL EVANS VOTED OUT OF X FACTOR

Daniel Evans has become the sixth performer to leave the X Factor as the competition reaches the halfway mark.

Evans' choice of the Tom Jones song It's Not Unusual for the Best of British week did not go down well with the judges.

Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh once again expressed their dislike for the pool cleaner's vocals with Cowell saying the song sounded "a little bit drunk dad at a wedding".

He found himself in the bottom two of the public vote with Rachel Hylton and chose the Simon and Garfunkel hit Bridge Over Troubled Water to stay in the competition.

Hylton chose U2 song One and managed to convince Louis Walsh, Cheryl Cole and Simon Cowell that she deserved another chance.

Speaking about his time on the ITV show, Evans, 38, said: "It's one of the best experiences I've ever had, the ups and the downs."

Contestant Diana Vickers returned to the stage this week to sing Coldplay song Yellow after missing last week's show with a throat infection.

Next week's show will see the contestants perform songs from boyband Take That.
