DALTREY BACKTRACKS OVER THE WHO SPLIT
ROGER DALTREY has backtracked on his claims legendary rockers THE WHO will never release another album - insisting songwriter bandmate PETE TOWNSHEND has yet to pen his best material.
Lead singer Daltrey recently hinted the band were heading for retirement, suggesting in an interview that they have "done enough already".
But he now insists the Baba O'Reilly band will keep on rocking, all the while Townshend continues to write songs for him to sing.
He tells the BBC, "I still feel that (Pete) still will come up with perhaps his best work. It's just whether he thinks we're the instrument that he wants to do that on. I would think, personally, I think he's mad to try and change it at this stage of his life. I mean why fix something that's not broke? Just let him get on with it."
And Daltrey adds that he's bored of the rumours the band will split - because they've been going on for decades: "It's a cracked old record, isn't it? Oh, it's all on, it's all off. Oh, it's all on."
