DADDY YANKEE SUED
Reggaeton superstar DADDY YANKEE has been hit with a copyright infringement lawsuit after failing to compensate a songwriter for the alleged use of a tune.
Plaintiff Victor M. Lopez Jr claims Daddy Yankee used a musical composition he created on Salud Y Vida, and he has yet to be properly credited.
Lopez's lawyer Peter Afrasiabi, says, "Daddy Yankee's representatives tried to negotiate a deal with Lopez to include the song on the Barrio Fino album, but when negotiations broke down, they simply used the composition without permission."
Lopez is seeking an undisclosed amount from Universal Music Latino, Interscope Records and Daddy Yankee's record label, El Cartel, according to Billboard.com.
