CYRUS' SHOW PULLED OVER DIABETES CONTROVERSY
A controversial episode of teen star MILEY CYRUS' hit show HANNAH MONTANA has been cancelled after Disney bosses were flooded with complaints from concerned parents.
The episode, titled No Sugar, Sugar, sees Cyrus' character Hannah dealing with her pal's diagnosis with diabetes.
The show was set to air in the U.S. on Sunday (09Nov08), but was yanked after it was previewed by parents in an on-demand version.
A spokesperson for the show tells the New York Daily News, "During the scriptwriting stage of the Hannah Montana episode in question, the matter of depicting a character with diabetes was reviewed by our Standards and Practices executives who consulted with medical experts to inform the story and ensure that it was told responsibly.
"Notwithstanding the measures we took, and based on the episode's preview and early feedback from parents (who saw it on Subscription Video on Demand and/or mobile platforms), we removed the episode from Sunday's schedule and are now reevaluating it."

The poster above is wrong. The show was pulled. The one aired was something
totally differnt. There were previews for a few days of the "No Sugar, Sugar"
episode, but those were pulled too. I never saw anything wrong with the
previews. Oliver went to the school nurse and the girls wanted to find out
what was wrong and she encouraged them to be there for Oliver, but to let him
tell them in his own timing. It seemed to be a little deeper than previous HM
shows, but these kids are growing up and life is changing.
My son is young and he watches the show and I would not have a problem if
topics such as diabetes or other issues were discussed.
We had a diabetic scare about 8 weeks ago. I just explained to my son his
blood is differnt than other kids, but much like Nick Jonas'. He also has
diabetes. My son was very comforted by the fact that someone else has the same
difference as him. He sees Nick on TV and understands he is ok even though his
body is different. Maybe they should highlight Miley's hypoglycemia- but I can
understand why she would not want the focus on her.
Ok, the episode already aired on Sunday night. I watched it. It had absolutely
nothing to do with one of the character's having diabetes. It started with
Miley really dreaming in her sleep, and then it fades into her dream...Miley is
fast asleep and Lilly walks in the door, and yells waking Miley up. When she is
awake, Miley tells Lilly about her dream. In the dream she dreams about Lilly
liking Jackson and Jackson liking Lilly back. Then after the whole rest of the
plot rolls out, Miley wakes up for real, and tells Lilly about the dream.
Lilly's exact words were, "Me and Jackson? Hmmm... EEW!" After Miley makes a
relieved comment and sigh, they hug and the show ends. Ok, so Disney should get
their story straight.
