CUSACK'S ALLEGED STALKER 'REJECTS PLEA DEAL'
A woman accused of stalking actor JOHN CUSACK will stand trial after a last-minute plea deal fell through.
Diane Leatherman was arrested outside the High Fidelity star's California home in March (08) and charged with one felony count of stalking.
The 33-year-old was set to accept a deal with a Los Angeles court which would have seen her avoid prison, but it collapsed after she accused her attorney, Brent Merritt, of using scare tactics to get her to agree to the deal.
Merritt, who was appointed against Leatherman's wishes, denied the allegation in court on Wednesday (08Oct08).
She will now stand trial at a future date. Leatherman faces three years in prison if convicted.
