CURTIS BIOPIC WINS TOP AWARDS AT EDINBURGH FILM FESTIVAL
The acclaimed biopic of late JOY DIVISION singer IAN CURTIS has won the two top awards at the Edinburgh International Film Festival in Scotland.
Control, the directorial debut of Dutch photographer Anton Corbijn, charts Curtis' life from his schooldays in Manchester, England to his suicide in 1980, at the age of 23.
The movie was named Best New British Feature, while actor Sam Riley collected the Best Performance award for his portrayal of troubled Curtis.
Elsewhere, Paul Taylor's documentary, We Are Together, about an AIDS orphanage in South Africa, won the Audience Award, and Jennifer Venditti's Billy The Kid was named Best Documentary.
