CURTAIN COMES DOWN ON THE LION KING IN THE NETHERLANDS

Smash-hit stage musical THE LION KING has closed in The Netherlands after playing to 12 per cent of the country's entire population. The colourful show debuted in The Netherlands two years ago (MAY04) and played 950 performances. The curtain came down on the production at the weekend (27AUG06). The Lion King was awarded Best Musical by public vote at the Dutch Musical Awards in 2004. Meanwhile, it was announced earlier this week (beg28AUG06) that The Lion King will open in Johannesburg, South Africa next summer (JUN07).
