CURRINGTON INJURED IN STAGE COLLAPSE

Country star BILLY CURRINGTON was among those injured after a stage collapsed at the Big Valley Jamboree country festival in Alberta, Canada on Saturday (01Aug09).
One person was killed and over 80 injured when high winds tore down the main stage just before Kevin Costner and his band Modern West were to perform.
Costner and his bandmates were not among those hurt.
Currington was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
During a press conference on Sunday (02Aug09), during which promoters called off the fourth day of the event out of respect for the dead man and those injured, organiser Larry Werner revealed festival staff had only two minutes warning that dangerous winds were coming their way before the stage collapsed.
He says, "I wish nobody was hurt. I wish it never happened, but it did and now we have to deal with it... It just happened so fast. We were trying to get everybody off the stage. We were trying to get people down the stairs."
Reports suggest about 100 people were on or near the stage when it collapsed. The dead man was killed by falling debris.
