CUMMING SHAKEN BY BENT ROLE

British actor ALAN CUMMING is so disturbed by the actions of his stage character in harrowing play BENT, he fears he may not last the course of its West End run. The bisexual X-MEN star plays a gay German during Nazi Germany who is sent to a concentration camp. Part of his role involves Cumming helping to beat to death his stage boyfriend and describe acts of necrophilia and child abuse. He says, "The only thing you can do with a play like that is not to think about it. I wind down with some physical stretching afterwards and have time to myself. "I also steer clear of people who've seen the play because all they do is come up to me and tell me how distressing it is. The run lasts until January - whether I last as long is another matter!"
