CUMMING RISKS ANOTHER NERVOUS BREAKDOWN
ALAN CUMMING is terrified he'll suffer another nervous breakdown when he returns to the London stage this week (5OCT06) for the first time in twelve years. The Scottish actor fell apart after the success of his celebrated turn as the MC in CABARET at London's Donmar theatre in 1994. Since then his stage appearances have been sporadic, starring in DESIGN FOR LIVING and ELLE in New York in 2001 and 2002 respectively but will soon be seen in the new production of BENT, which hits London this Thursday, (05OCT06) The X2 star admits that he still gets nervous about performing on stage because a nervous breakdown could happen again, saying, "I'm furious about putting myself in this situation again. "It's not so much being judged. I actually don't care about that. Terrible things have been said about my real life, let alone my acting. But physically I get so nearly out of control."
