CRYSTAL CASTLES FRONTWOMAN TOPS NME COOL LIST
Alice Glass, the frontwoman of Canadian electro duo Crystal Castles, has topped the NME Cool List 2008.
The diminutive singer, famed for her crazed onstage antics, was a new entry into the influential list, headed last year by Gallows' Frank Carter.
Rap king Jay-Z finished second after his legendary Glastonbury 2008 performance while MGMT's Andrew VanWyngarden was voted third.
Alex Turner, of Arctic Monkeys and Last Shadow Puppets, finished fourth with Late of the Pier's Sam Dust a new entry at five.
Asked about topping the 2008 Cool List, Alice Glass replied: "I'm flattered, but back in school the people who held themselves in the same regard were the biggest waste of skin I've ever met".
And after NME asked whether being labelled cool is relevant, she answered: "Nothing matters. We're all dust."
Kings of Leon frontman Caleb Followill, Liam Gallagher and Glasvegas drummer Caroline McKay also reached the top ten.
