CRY BABY BRINGS WATERS BACK TO BROADWAY

Oddball US filmmaker JOHN WATERS has been crowned the new king of Broadway - a second musical based on one of his zany films is set to hit the stage. After his Hairspray became a musical sensation, producers have been looking to turn another Waters film into a stage production - and now Cry Baby is slated to get the Broadway treatment. Johnny Depp, Iggy Pop and porn star Traci Lords were among the stars of the cult 1990 film, which is now set to hit New York next March (08). Cry Baby will have its world premiere in San Diego, California in November (07). The New York Post reports newcomer James Snyder will take over the role lead role of Wage 'Cry Baby' Walker, played by Depp in the film, when the production hits the stage.
