TOM CRUISE was less than popular during wrestling classes at his old school, because he would resort to a painful crotch-grabbing move in order to gain the upper hand in the sport. The VANILLA SKY star was particularly good at a move called the 'high crotch', which involved putting an arm between the opponent's legs. A former grappler at Glen Ridge High School, New Jersey, says, "Even then everybody knew who he was, but it wasn't because anyone thought he'd be a movie star." Speaking of the dreaded crotch hold, the wrestler tells Steppin' Out magazine, "The pain it caused was excruciating to say the least."
