CRONENBERG HONOURED BY FRANCE
Canadian filmmaker DAVID CRONENBERG will be presented with France's highest accolade, the Legion d'honneur, at a ceremony in Toronto next month (Apr09).
The director will receive the Medal of Knight to the French National Order of the Legion of Honour from Francois Delattre, the French Ambassador to Canada.
The award honours Cronenberg's film accomplishments and his services to French culture. He won the Cannes Film Festival's Special Jury Prize in 1996 for the movie Crash.
Cronenberg, who celebrated his 66th birthday this week (15Mar09), is currently working on a movie adaptation of Robert Ludlum's thriller novel The Matarese Circle, which is expected to star Tom Cruise and Denzel Washington.
