CREW INJURED AFTER CORONATION STREET ACCIDENT

Two crew members have been injured on the set of Coronation Street after a car accident.

Director Kay Patrick was taken to hospital after being hit by a car, while a male crew member, thought to be the driver of the car, also received minor injuries.

"We can confirm an accident occurred on the set of Coronation Street this morning during filming," a statement from ITV said.

"The accident occurred as the crew were setting up for a scene which involved a small amount of vehicle movement."

Reports suggested the car lurched forward, possibly after the accelerator became jammed.

ITV's Health and Safety team is investigating.
