CREATIVE CREW ASSEMBLES FOR THE A-TEAM MOVIE

Joe Carnahan and the Scott brothers have been signed up by Twentieth Century Fox to take iconic 80s TV series The A-Team into a blockbuster film.

Smokin' Aces helmer Carnahan will direct with Ridley Scott producing and Tony Scott executive producing ahead of a planned summer 2010 release.

The original series told of four Vietnam veterans - Hannibal, Murdock, Faceman and BA Baracus - framed for a crime they did not commit who come to the aid of innocent people while steering clear of the military police.

Though the Middle East will replace Vietnam as the four soldiers' former stomping ground, Carnahan has promised the film will stay true to the series' original tone.

"You can... make a film that reflects on the real world without losing the great sense of fun and the velocity of action in a classic summer popcorn film," he told Variety.

"This was a coveted property, and reimagining a show that I remembered as a kid was tough to turn down," he continued.

"Fox hired me to make it as emotional, real and accessible as possible without cheesing it up."

Sir Ridley Scott said he, his brother Tony and Carnahan were planning a "fast-paced, exciting franchise" which will could "be around for years to come".
