CREAMFIELDS TO GO AHEAD DESPITE COUNCIL PROTESTS
England's Creamfields dance festival will take place this summer (26-27AUG06) in Daresbury, Liverpool, despite protests over noise pollution lodged by a neighbouring council. Warrington Council argued against Creamfields' application to Daresbury Council yesterday (27JUN06), claiming staging the musical extravaganza in the semi-rural area would could cause unbearable levels of crime and noise. Objector JULIAN WRIGLEY said, "I believe the proposed event and the influx of people on such a large scale has the potential to do untold harm to the community. "We have nothing against Creamfields, but it is a Merseyside-based commercial operation. Do they really care about the area in which we live, other than as a site for this event?" But the application was accepted by Daresbury Council, who hope the borough of Liverpool will become the festival's permanent home. Bands set to play at the event include GNARLS BARKLEY, THE ZUTONS, GOLDFRAPP and DJ SHADOW.
