CRAIG SPILLS BOND 22 DETAILS
Ahead of the release of his new movie The Golden Compass, Daniel Craig has talked about stepping into 007's tuxedo for the 22nd Bond film.
Though he had admitted that he was "very much against" taking on the role of James Bond, the British actor's life has changed immeasurably since the huge critical and commercial success of Casino Royale.
And talking to ComingSoon.net, Craig has admitted some (very small) details about the next movie.
The next film is due to start immediately after the narrative climax of Casino Royale and Craig said the directorial experience of Marc Forster makes him "very excited" about the potential for keeping the franchise in fine fettle.
"If you look at Monster's Ball, Finding Neverland and then The Kite Runner, which is just stunning, it's such a diverse look at the world, I'd want us to have that," he explained.
"Marc is very solid. That for me is crucially important because this movie needs to jump on from Casino Royale and take it somewhere else. Marc is totally inspired and is really just keen to get started."
Casino Royale was widely seen as a welcome departure from the almost self-parodic tone of recent Bond films, a move Craig welcomed when choosing the project, he admitted.
"The idea of having jokes in Bond I don't think is completely wrong, but I think the jokes to need to come from tension," the actor commented. "There needs to be moments of humour because we've all been sitting on the edge of our seat."
He added: "I don't think you should write gags in Bond."
Craig's new film The Golden Compass - an adaptation of the first book in Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy - hits UK screens on December 5th.
