CRAIG CHARLES ARRESTED

RED DWARF actor CRAIG CHARLES was arrested in London yesterday (10AUG06) on suspicion of possessing an illegal drug. The 42-year-old was stung by British newspaper the Daily Mirror in June (06) when the tabloid published pictures of him purportedly smoking large amounts of crack cocaine. Charles was immediately suspended from his role in hugely popular British TV soap opera CORONATION STREET following public outcry over the snaps, which were taken during a car journey from the British capital to Manchester. A police spokesperson says, "We can confirm a 42-year-old man attended a London police station on the morning of August 10, and was arrested on suspicion of possession of a class A drug. "He was later released on bail and will return on a date in September, pending further inquiries."
