COXON AND WELLER COLLABORATION SET FOR RELEASE
A collaboration between Graham Coxon and Paul Weller is set for a physical release later this month.
This Old Town, co-written by the Blur guitarist and the former Jam legend, is already available as a download and will also be in the shops as a seven-inch single on July 30th.
The track is backed by the songs Each New Morning, written by Coxon, and Black River, which is a Weller-penned number.
Discussing working with a rock 'n' roll elder statesman, Coxon said he was "bricking it" when he first met him.
"As a long-time admirer of Paul, I never dared imagine getting a chance to work with him," the guitarist said.
"But he is an absolute gent and a shockingly-great singer and musician. It's been a total pleasure."
Drums on This Old Town come courtesy of Oasis and the Who drummer Zak Starkey, making the line-up for this release something of a super-group.
Weller also commended Coxon and said the project was an enjoyable experience.
"I've always been a big fan of Graham's," the singer said. "It was exciting for me to work on something new with him."
Coxon rose to fame as the lead guitarist in the Britpop band Blur before parting with the group during the recording of their last album, Think Tank.
He has since continued to record solo material, while Weller has also been equally prolific in his recent solo work.
