COWELL PLANS IDOL MOVIE
Music mogul-turned-reality TV star SIMON COWELL is to turn hit show AMERICAN IDOL into a new movie.
The British svengali is the brains behind a new film, Star Struck, which follows the fortunes of wannabes on a talent show.
He explains, "The story is told through the eyes of 10 contestants. We want it to be the musical version of Rocky - an underdog story, a feel-good film."
And Cowell believes that if the film lives up to his expectations, it could become the next Fame: "Fame was all about young people wanting to be famous, and, in order to do that, they enrolled in a drama school.
"Everyone who wants to be famous today signs up for American Idol."
Like Idol, Star Struck will be cast via nationally held auditions, and the film will open with Cowell judging potential stars.
