CORNELL HONOURED FOR HELPING ADDICTS

Former SOUNDGARDEN star CHRIS CORNELL is to be honoured for his work helping recovering addicts at a Hollywood ceremony. The rocker and former alcoholic will be presented with the Stevie Ray Vaughan Award at the MusiCares MAP Fund benefit dinner and concert on 11 May (07). The event is organised by the Recording Academy, the group responsible for the Grammy Awards. The MusiCares MAP Fund looks after members of the music community suffering addictions. Cornell will perform at the bash, at Hollywood's Music Box Theatre, as well as DEPECHE MODE frontman DAVE GAHAN - another recovering addict. Music promoter JEFF MCCLUSKY will also be honoured at the event.
