CORINNE BAILEY RAE "DEVASTATED" AFTER HUSBAND'S DEATH

Singer Corinne Bailey Rae has spoken of her devastation at the death of her husband last month.

The body of Jason Rae, a 31-year-old saxophonist, was discovered at a flat in the Hyde Park area of Leeds, West Yorkshire, on Saturday March 22nd.

An inquest into Rae's death heard that he died of a suspected drugs overdose and a 32-year-old man was arrested after the discovery of the body on suspicion of supplying illegal substances but has since been released on bail.

In a statement released today, Bailey Rae's manager Bob Miller said: "Corinne remains devastated at losing her soulmate and is very grateful for the wonderful tributes paid to Jason by those who knew him and worked with him.

"The overwhelming goodwill towards Corinne and Jason has deeply touched her and will help her get through the next weeks and months."

Aberdeen-born Jason Rae was a member of the eight-piece Haggis Horns funk band, and had married Leeds-born Bailey Rae in 2001, after meeting her while she was working as a cloakroom attendant at a Leeds jazz club.

Mr Miller added: "We ask that [the media] continue to respect Corinne's very strong desire to be given the privacy, space and time she requires before she is ready to speak or appear in public."
