COPPOLA DENIES MAIDEN OPERA CLAIMS
LATEST: Filmmaker SOFIA COPPOLA has quashed reports she plans to stage her first ever opera in 2009.
Officials at the Montpellier Opera House in southern France last week (end11FEB07) announced the LOST IN TRANSLATION director would oversee a production of PUCCINI's MANON LESCAUT in its 2009 to 2010 season, but ROBERT GATLOCK, Coppola's spokesman, refutes the venue's claims.
He says, "Contrary to reports announced by the Montpellier Opera House, Ms Coppola has not committed to directing an opera.
"She has no knowledge of nor has she agreed to direct a production there."
