CONNERY RECEIVES HONORARY DEGREE
Former JAMES BOND star SEAN CONNERY has been honoured in his native Scotland, receiving an award from a university in Edinburgh.
The veteran actor was presented with an honorary doctorate from Edinburgh Napier University in a ceremony in his hometown on Friday (19Jun09).
Connery, who began his career as an Edinburgh milkman, donned the intuition's red, blue and white robes to pick up the award, and used his speech to praise the education system in Scotland.
He told the audience, "I know I could not be standing here today receiving this splendid honour if I had not learned to read and write at the age of five. What is interesting in all of this is that I never realised it until I was in my 70s."
