COMPETITION SEEKS NEXT GENERATION OF FILM CRITICS

A nationwide search for the UK's biggest teen film fan has been launched ahead of the second annual Virgin Media Shorts competition.

Virgin Media are seeking film obsessives who know their favourite movies word-for-word and are steadily amassing an enviable DVD library to join the judging panel for the 2009 Virgin Media Shorts contest.

Oscar winner Kevin Spacey and Bond girl Gemma Arterton are part of the panel for this year's competition, as well as Doctor Who actor and Bafta Rising Star winner Noel Clarke.

And for a chance to sit on the exclusive panel and judge the brightest crop of short films in the country, aspiring critics should log on to www.virginmediashorts.co.uk/vipjudge and complete the entry form.

"Virgin Media Shorts is all about giving British film makers a shot at the big time by helping them pursue their dream," said Ashley Stockwell, executive director of brand and marketing at Virgin Media.

"Our teen judge competition aims to find the next-generation of British film critics, with the ultimate prize of crowning the winner of Virgin Media Shorts alongside the likes of Kevin Spacey."

The deadline for entries is Saturday June 20th when all entries will be reviewed and one teenager crowned the overall winner.

The top film fan will help choose the Grand Prize Winner of Virgin Media Shorts 2009 as well as win an all expenses paid trip and a chance to rub shoulders with the other judges at the glitzy awards ceremony in Central London on September 22nd.

And film makers from across the country have given the chance to upload their short films through www.virginmediashorts.co.uk until June 23rd.
