COMICS REMARKS ABOUT JESUS CENSORED BY E! CHANNEL
E! Entertainment Channel has removed comments about Jesus that comic Kathy Griffin made during last weekend's presentations of the Creative Arts Emmy Awards, scheduled to air on E! Saturday. "A lot of people come up here and thank Jesus for this award. I want you to know that no one had less to do with this award than Jesus," Griffin said as she collected an Emmy for best reality program for Bravo's My Life on the D-List.. "Suck it, Jesus. This award is my god now," she said. Word of her remarks drew the expected criticism from religious groups. Bill Donohue, president of the Catholic League, the largest organization of lay Catholics in the U.S., promptly called the remarks "hate speech" and demanded an apology. Informed of the decision to censor her remarks, Griffin told Reuters through a publicist, "Am I the only Catholic left with a sense of humor?"
