COMIC RELIEF RAISES £57 MILLION
Comic Relief raised a record £57 million last night, trouncing the previous record of £40 million set in 2007.
The total is also expected to grow by at least another £20 million as donations keep on being made.
All the money raised from last night's show and the fund-raising events for Red Nose Day which took place across the country will go towards helping disadvantaged people across the UK and Africa.
The supermarket chain Sainsbury's which sold the official Comic Relief merchandise handed over a cheque for over £9 million to the show's presenters last night, the single largest donation ever made in the event's 11 year history.
Throughout the night on BBC, numerous stars took part in comic skits and appeals for donations.
David Beckham and members of the England football team appeared in a piece with Gavin and Stacey's James Corden, while singer Robbie Williams again dressed up in female clothes with the boys from Little Britain.
The night also saw a live version of Top of the Pops with Oasis playing, while Grammy winner Adele performed later in the night.
