COLLETTE BUYS HISTORIC SYDNEY HOME

THE SIXTH SENSE star TONI COLLETTE is so keen to move into a former fire station in Sydney, Australia's Little Italy district she's offering to pay over the odds to buy it. The actress and her musician husband Dave Galafassi paid just over $2 million (GBP1 million) for the home - $400,000 (GBP200,000) over the asking price - to become the new owners of the property, so they didn't have to bid for it at a planned auction. The four bedroom home was a fire station in the late 1800s and became an army residence. It was bought privately 15 years ago and has been completely renovated and modernised. The property is one of Sydney's most famous homes and features a garden designed by top Aussie landscaper Annie Wilkes. Collette and her husband bought the property from current owners Bob and Helen Hargreaves, who run an imported furniture business Le Forge, according to the Sydney Daily Telegraph.
