COLE BLAMES DRUG USE ON SELF-ESTEEM ISSUES
Singer NATALIE COLE has blamed her former drug problems on her lifelong battle with low self-esteem.
The star spent years fighting heroin addiction and was arrested for possession of the drug in 1975.
She entered rehab in a bid to conquer her demons in 1983, and is now clean.
And Cole now recognises the reasons why she became an addict - blaming it on a lack of focus in her life.
She tells U.S. TV host Larry King, "I think it's a matter of having low self-esteem. I think that there is a void in one's life, in one's heart that you just can't fill and people fill it with different things, whether it's drugs, whether it's sex, whether it's liquor, whether it's gambling, whether it's - some kind of addiction.
"And there are just those of us who are like little walking around garbage cans where we just can't figure out what to do."
