COLDPLAY LEAD BRITISH CHALLENGE FOR 2009 GRAMMY AWARDS
Coldplay head a list of Grammy nominees dominated by British acts ahead of tonight's ceremony.
Chris Martin and company have seven nominations for the prestigious US music awards, with rapper Lil Wayne the most nominated artist with eight nods.
Coldplay could take the record of year prize though their competitors all come from the UK, with Leona Lewis, Adele, MIA and Robert Plant - with US country singer Alison Krauss - also nominated.
Among the seven nominations for the Viva La Vida stars are nods in both the pop and rock categories while hip-hop stars Kanye West and Jay-Z, along with R 'n' B artist Ne-Yo each have six nominations.
Radiohead have five nominations, including album of the year and best alternative album.
Other Brits gunning for Grammy glory including female singers Estelle and Duffy, in the song of the year and new artist categories respectively.
The 2009 Grammy awards take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles this evening.

how sad and embarrassing, whitney houston drunk or waisted during her
presentation.
and blah what a waist this years grammys.
if it wasnt for Coldplay( they are great) saving the night.
the broadcast sound quality mix was poor. 3 songs to kid rock and and only one
to mccartney. and how to yuck up a stevie wonder set. say no more. this show
was horriable.. guess we have to scrape the bottom of the barrel before we go
up.
