COBAIN'S GUITAR SELLS FOR $100,000

A smashed guitar which once belonged to late NIRVANA frontman KURT COBAIN has sold at auction for $100,000 (GBP68, 493).
The sale was confirmed on Tuesday (23Dec08) by the senior curator of the Experience Music Project in Seattle, Washington, where the taped-up Fender Mustang had been on display.
The guitar was owned by punk rocker Sluggo of The Grannies and Hullabaloo. The star claimed to have traded Cobain a working guitar for the broken instrument in the legendary band's early days, after the late singer smashed it on stage and couldn't afford to replace it.
Cobain committed suicide in 1994.
