COACHELLA ADDS A DAY AND A COUNTRY MUSIC FESTIVAL

America's biggest and most successful annual music festival, Coachella, will run for three days in 2007. The two-day Coachella Valley Music + Arts Festival has hosted star-studded international line-ups since its debut in the California desert in 2001 and now promoters want to expand the fun. Coachella bosses are also hoping to add a new country music festival, which will run at their Empire Polo Field site in Indio, California the weekend after. Next year's (07) three-day Coachella will be held over the weekend of 27-29 April (07), while the country festival, which will feature WILLIE NELSON and KENNY CHESNEY, will debut the following weekend (27-29APR07). The new unnamed country festival, which will also feature GEORGE STRAIT, EMMYLOU HARRIS and LUCINDA WILLIAMS, will boast four stages, including a "storytelling area," according to Billboard.com. Promoter LOUIS MESSINA says, "This is the first year, and I think this is something that's going to be around for a long time and grow into something really special."
