CLOONEY: 'I DON'T MIND BEING CALLED A TRAITOR'

GEORGE CLOONEY doesn't mind that some Americans will always think of him as a traitor because of his outspoken opposition to the US-led invasion of Iraq - he'd rather that than not having spoke his mind. The Oscar-winning actor accepts there will always be US citizens who dislike him for his politics. He says, "During the lead-up to the Iraq war I was on the front of a magazine and called a traitor. "I ran into a guy not long ago who said, 'Why do you hate your country?' I said, 'Because I thought we should ask questions before we sent 150,000 people in.' "But you're famous and so when you say something you have to be a grown-up and take your hits - you can't sit around and say, 'Don't say bad things about me.'"
