JOHN CLEESE knew his relationship with BARBIE ORR was over when he discovered she was using the media in a desperate bid to "resuscitate" their romance. The Fawlty Towers star began dating Orr during his divorce from his third wife Alyce Faye Eichelberger, but they split late last year (09) after three months together.
And Cleese knew he had made the right decision when he later suspected Orr of trying to manipulate the publicity surrounding their love affair.
He tells Hello! magazine, "About two months ago I said to her, 'I think we should just be friends'. We went outside to the car park and she said, 'Can I have a hug?' I thought, 'All right'.
"A few days later the pictures were in the press. I think she knew it was over and was trying to resuscitate it using the media.
"When you realise someone has treated you like that, you can never trust them again."
