CLARKE: 'DOHERTY WAS MILKED FOR MONEY'

Former BABYSHAMBLES star GEMMA CLARKE has accused the band's management of "milking" frontman PETE DOHERTY for "money" while he was at the height of his drug problems.
Clarke played drums for the rockers between 2004 and 2005 and claims she witnessed executives associated with the band exploit Doherty while he was struggling with heroine addiction.
The percussionist insists Doherty should have been removed from the public eye and given help for his problems and she blames the group's management for allowing him to continue performing.
She says, "I don't understand heroin addiction, but I understand that he has an illness. At the end I felt that the machinery around the band was milking him, destroying him.
"The management were thrashing him around the country, getting as much money out of him as possible, but he needed help. It just didn't feel right to me. We had meetings, but nothing changed."
Doherty has since claimed to have kicked his addiction to hard drugs.
