CLAPTON RULES OUT ANOTHER CREAM REUNION
ERIC CLAPTON has ruled out another CREAM reunion, insisting the members of the rock supertrio have parted ways amicably.
The guitar great reteamed with Ginger Baker and Jack Bruce for shows in London and New York in 2005 and fans have been hoping for another get-together ever since - but that isn't going to happen.
Clapton says, "I think I was clear that I don't think we need to go there again... I think we've gone as far as we could with that."
But he insists, "I'd never say never" - a comment which will please Bruce, who told Billboard.com magazine last year (08), "I think there might be a chance of some more (gigs). I would like to do some more, ’cause I enjoyed it. It was very emotional. I would like another shot at it."
Meanwhile, Clapton has revealed the 2005 Cream reunion almost included his Blind Faith bandmate Steve Winwood, who is currently on tour with the guitar great.
He tells Rolling Stone magazine, "It was not a favourable idea with the other two guys... We would have had to start a new band with a new name."

I think the other commenter has forgotten how much Clapton revolutionised
electric guitar playing in the sixties. His playing technique and original
sound was phenomenal...literally mind blowing,I know I was there (yep I'm an
old fart). Eric's downfall is that he has been so widely copied over the years
that his style now just seems the norm and since then he's become a fantastic
singer and songwriter. We didn't call him God for nothing!
Could care less about Clapton. Would be interested in seeing Ginger Baker &
Jack Bruce. It would be great to see all especially with Steve Winwood.
Health issues & the fact that maybe they would just like to be retired and do
other things could be a good reason not to do another reunion. Jack & Ginger
both went on with other bands, but writers keep making a big deal about
Clapton. Clapton's good ... not great. The other two never get the
recognition they are truly due. If they don't want another reunion, so be it!
Still waiting for Ginger Baker's Autobiography, hope it comes out soon!
