CIVIL SERVANT IN COURT OVER 'OBSCENE' GIRLS ALOUD BLOG
A 35-year-old civil servant is due in court today accused of writing an internet blog fantasising about the kidnap and murder of pop group Girls Aloud.
Darryn Walker, from South Shields, is expected to appear at Newcastle crown court later today charged with breaking the Obscene Publications Act in relation to the website.
He was arrested in February after the blog headlined Girls (Scream) Aloud appeared online.
The article is reported to have been about the band members Cheryl Cole, Sarah Harding, Nicola Roberts, Nadine Coyle, and Kimberley Walsh.
The girl group won ITV's Popstars: The Rivals back in 2002 and have since recorded 18 consecutive top ten singles.
