CHRISTMAS COMES EARLY FOR DISNEY MOVIE

A CHRISTMAS CAROL has soared to the top of the U.S. box office with an opening weekend haul of $31 million (£19.375 million) in North America.
The Disney hit - starring Jim Carrey as an animated Ebenezer Scrooge - toppled Michael Jackson's This Is It from the top spot.
The documentary secured second place with $14 million (£8.75 million), followed by George Clooney's The Men Who Stare at Goats with $13.3 million (£8.3 million).
U.F.O. thriller Fourth Kind and horror Paranormal Activity round out the top five.
