CHRISTIE BACKS MADONNA ADOPTION
Crooner and adoptive parent TONY CHRISTIE has attacked critics of MADONNA's recent adoption of a Malawian baby, insisting she should be left alone as he was.
British Christie has a 30-year-old Anglo-Asian daughter, SARAH, he and his wife adopted at birth.
And the singer knows well the difficulties Madonna and husband GUY RITCHIE must have undergone to secure the custody of baby DAVID BANDA.
He says, "Although Sarah is British and was adopted in the UK, we had to watch her go through the usual identity crises that many mixed-nationality adopted children go through, over and above the usual adolescent stuff. But we just worked through it. And we would go through it all over again.
"No-one enters into adoption lightly, these children are special and very much wanted.
"I find it hard to believe that anyone would go to such extents for a publicity stunt. It is ludicrous.
"It's a shame that such a wonderful act has turned into a mass public cat fight. Madonna should stop justifying her actions and be left to get on with it."
