CHRIS BROWN EXPECTED IN COURT OVER 'RIHANNA ASSAULT'

R 'n' B singer Chris Brown is due to appear in a Los Angeles court later over his arrest for an alleged assault on his girlfriend Rihanna.

Though the Forever star has yet to be formally charged with any offence, he is required to appear in court based on a date set after his arrest on February 8th.

The woman involved in the incident has not been identified, but it has been claimed that the victim was Brown's pop star girlfriend Rihanna.

The Umbrella singer has not commented on the claims - even after a picture depicting her with facial injuries was leaked - but a spokesperson said she was "doing well and deeply appreciates the outpouring of support she has received during this difficult time".

Brown and Rihanna both pulled out of scheduled performances at the Grammy awards on the night of Brown's arrest, which occurred after he and the woman in question argued in a parked car in Hancock Park, Los Angeles.

Brown has not yet been formally charged and soon after being freed on $50,000 bail, issued a statement saying he was "sorry and saddened" by the incident and seeking counselling.

Prosecutors have asked police for more information and Brown could potentially be charged with domestic violence or making criminal threats felonies, or be referred to the city attorney for a misdemeanour review.
